Richard Gilder III teaches Latin and Greek to every age group from sixth graders through graduate students. He received his B.A. in Religion from Haverford College (1984), his M.A. in Classics from the Graduate Center of the City University of New York (1991), and his Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania (1997). He has written two innovative Latin text books designed for the beginning and intermediate Latin student of any age: Via Facilis: Mastering Latin and Understanding Language, and Via Non Difficilior: Deepening Our Mastery of Latin and Understanding of Language.
Dr. Gilder is the founder of CAGSE, the educational consultancy which develops children's awareness of language through innovative Latin programs. These are currently running in several state elementary (primary) schools in London and Buckinghamshire, UK. Dr Gilder has also run the Latin program at a school in Tuxedo Park, NY and has taught at the University of Pennsylvania and in both the basic Greek and Upper Level Latin programs of the Latin/Greek Institute of Brooklyn College and CUNY Graduate Center.
